of the two of them, my father has always been the more optimistic and courageous. Mother has the worry gene.
Exactly the opposite in the case of my folks-- dad was the worrier, mom was always upbeat and outgoing, only-way-out-is-through type. They paired well because of this, there is no doubt, she kept him grounded, he kept her cautious when necessary-- he wasn't always wrong to worry.
My sister and I are both lucky that we seem to have gotten a nice mix of the two, a balance. I shift a little bit towards my dad, and she's a bit more like my mom, but we're both pretty sturdy under at least reasonable stress.
BTW, got my first (Pfizer) vaccine shot today at the operation the county set up at this closed-down local big suburban department store. All went so smoothly it's ridiculous, I'm in awe of the arrangement they set up, which was developed in conjunction with-- of all theoretical things-- one of our most successful local business ventures, Clair Global, who does production for many famous music acts. They provided all the physical planning and installation infrastructure for the site.
This place can vaccinate up to 6000 people per day! There very well could have been 1000 people there when I visited at 10:30 AM, judging by the parking lot alone, but I was in and out in barely over a half hour. It was just stunningly organized, I have no other words for it.
