I tend to agree - I think the ATPO board played a huge role in that obsession for quite a few of us. I honestly don't know if I'd have remained obsessed for quite that long if it weren't for that board and then livejournal, where it continued.
Buffy Cross and Stake was fun - but not quite as addictive. For one thing it didn't have the scholarly posters frequenting it, and posts were pushed off that board in a matter of hours. While with ATPO they at least went to archives and could be brought back again - if requested.
We sort of fed off of each other. It's sort of hard to maintain a cultural obsession by yourself or in a vacuum.
