After listening to the podcast and reading a review..I've managed to figure out what my problem with both Captain Marvel and Dark Phoenix was -- they aren't movies about Captain Marvel and Dark Phoenix, they are solid B movies about Nick Fury and Professor Xavier, and that's the problem.

Hollywood hasn't figured out yet to make movies about strong female superheroes without making it about little boys. We need less movies about spiderman, and more movies about spider-gwen.
