I definitely think in words. I love books because I create my own images in my head. I see and hear it like watching a movie. Always have.

So I came to graphic novels late. But by then I'd lived with a visual artist for nearly 40 years, so I was able to enjoy the art elements much better.

I remember as a kid, I'd buy a book, and my brother would buy comics. (The two youngest would buy toys.) We'd be given money to get something, and I'd head straight for the books.
