Interesting about LeGuin's perspective on writing. I absolutely adore a collection of short stories she wrote, The Compass Rose, but like you, I've always had a hard time getting into her novels. Although one of my earliest movie memories was a PBS film adaptation of her novel The Lathe of Heaven, which I was fascinated by as a kid.

I did like the first in the Lady Trent memoirs. Hm.
