Good to know on Lady Trent. I got it cheap on a Kindle Daily Deal. Honestly, I think I'm nickle and diming myself to death on Kindle Daily Deals.
Anyhow...I lived in a lot of places. But spent about seventeen years in Kansas (Lawrence, and outside Kansas City, Missouri), also my mother's parents lived in Liberty, Missouri. We never got hit by a tornado. Spent a lot of time in the basement worrying over it though. And in bathtubs when basements weren't doable or available.
It's harder to get hit by a tornado than a Hurricane. That said, I've lived in NYC for about twenty-three years now...and I've seen three hurricanes, no problems, worst was more work (I work in infrastructure), and there was about a week there that no one could get around -- the down-side of living on an island dependent on public transportation. Although this is an issue in regards to blizzards too. Also, apparently, we get tornados here now too. Sigh.
