I hadn't seen it - thanks for the link. I don't know why people get so angry at philosophers or psychologists? If you don't agree, just don't agree. No human being is an authority on anything really, we're all just pissing at windmills to be honest.
Shrugs.
My take? I don't think we know. I mean a valid argument can be made either way. I've made one both ways. But, I do think we are accountable for our choices. Although in some scenarios? Our options are somewhat limited, and luck plays a heavy role. I do however believe there's a pattern to it all - but we can't see it. Be kind of like threads in an intricate tapestry trying to determine their role.
I had a conversation a long time ago with a businessman on a plane to Martha's Vineyard, we were getting along splendidly until I made the comment that when I looked out the window, I realized how truly insignificant we truly were - from a distance we appeared to be mere ants - and he got all huffy on me, and gave me a lecture about not discussing politics on planes or in polite company. Sigh. The human ego amazes me. It's like a balloon - you pop it - it makes a very loud noise.
