Sometimes in my old job I'd have to apply for copies of birth certificates for people, and there were a few times when it could be difficult to get hold of them because we had something like the wrong information for place of birth, or one family had been known to us by one spelling of their last name for years and then it turned out their birth certificates contained a different spelling. One guy proved quite difficult to track down and it eventually turned out that the date on his birth certificate was three and a half years different from the one we had on record for him. So at this point I would question nothing on that front.
