To clarify? No, it's an alternative medical practice. She's not doing conventional medicine, and wasn't encouraged to do so. Her practice is all alternative medicine. It fits what you posted above. (I don't understand it enough to communicate it effective, since I know zip about 1800s medicinal practices outside of what I've read - and I've forgotten more of that than well anyone has studied.
