Or you don't like superhero genre? Or superhero graphic novels? (They are more graphic novels than really comics per se, tbh.) You have to try the right ones - X-Men 1980s onwards. Right now they are being written by fairly liberal and diverse writers.

The BOOM! Buffy comics - The Last Slayer, you might like? Tara didn't get killed by Warren, and Tara/Willow had a daughter who became a slayer - who after they died trying to save the world, is being raised by her watchers (Buffy and Spike).
