Thanks.

I mostly enjoyed The Magicians, even though it was uneven. Julia was my favorite - not sure if it was the actress, the storyline, or both.

I'd agree with this assessment. It is a series with a lot of mopey/whiny characters - which is a problem and most likely why it got cancelled after S5, that and it lost fan favorite Quentin (sigh, don't ask, I never understood the fandom). I think Julia may be the only character who isn't constantly yelling at people or moping about it. They seem to fall into two categories? Annoyed, yelling, cursing people out, and punching anyone who gets close. (Basically assholery or bitchiness) or mopey, woe is me, I'm just going to sit here and mope.

My favorites? Julia and Eliot, who tend to spend the least time doing either. I like Eliot with every character - he truly brings out the best in the others. And Julia is the same - she brings out the best in Quentin and Kady. Alice? seriously, why couldn't they have let her stay dead.

I don't mind Margo, she has an interesting arc and is at least pro-active.

Alice and Quentin on starting to get on my ever-living nerve. So too is Penny and Kady. Best thing to happen to Penny - was for him to get stuck with the Librarians and then on the Astral Plane. He's less of a jerk - because no one can see him or hear him unless they hold a key.
