What's odder still is that both themes are oddly combined, so I find myself confused discussing the film.

The combination may be the view that the parent wishes to hide the beauty of the child from the world and keep it to himself, much as someone raises a perfect rose. Or desire to possess that which is beautiful to you and you have created?

The incest theme certainly troubles me but since it lies outside my experience, it didn't bug me just fascinated. While I adore my father, I have no desire to marry him. The beauty theme bothered me more. While the analysts didn't notice the beauty theme nor were disturbed by it, but were disturbed by the incest.
