Oops just realized something, my current novel does have a female version of the rogue cad or is very similar to the Shane character. It's the first time I've written a female version, usually they are male, which may be why this novel feels so different. And the female version I've written is based on people I've known in my life, so it countradicts my statement above. It's been an interesting exercise writing the rogue cad type character and exploring that character as a female and someone I wouldn't be attracted to, forced me to flesh her out more somehow than I did the male versions. Not sure that makes sense. Writing this quickly since at work and they are edgy about this sort of thing.
