ah, I actually figured it was that...
and I have to agree. I was the most invested in Spike's redemptive arc (so his death in a blaze of glory was just the fulfillment of my hopes for him) but I did love that Buffy had come to trust him (both at the end of S5, and even more by the end of S7).

I've always been very keen on my black sheep getting accepted.
