Lol about the Stackhouse novels. I agree with you about her, oddly enough. I love the books, but for the vampires, not the heroine. And Eric reminds me of Spike, unsurprising since Harris is a big Buffy fan. It's her Lily Bard novels that made me a fan. I identified very much with the character's way of handling PTSD, because before I had kids I used to have insommnia, and I'd walk at night to tire myself out. And actually, there's little humor in those.
I guess we don't get to decide what strikes a chord, what shapes our likes and dislikes. Which means that we shouldn't be embarrassed about what we like, the way I tend to do about my love of the weird.
