Can't say these big shock reveals do a lot for me, especially as ever since the Twangel spoiler broke I've thought how much better the comic would be if we'd known Twilight was Angel all along. The story suddenly got a lot more interesting to me, I know, and I think others have felt the same way.

Agreed. I think both Dollhouse and Buffy would have worked better if the audience was told up front. Keeping us isolated in Buffy or Echo's pov is sort of counter-productive. The impact of the reveal on their emotional states would be far more thrilling if we knew about it. Whedon used to get that...because Cordy was revealed as the baddie in S4 long before Angel figured it out.

That said, I think he may even believe what he said about the other Twilight having no relevance to this one, but if so he's clearly not familiar at all with the other Twilight or hasn't read his own story properly.

He's covering his ass. He's not going to tell you it is a satirical take on Twilight - half the fans read and love Twilight. Twilight is a pop sensation. There's nothing worse than a fan who thinks you spit on their fandom deliberately. Deniability, baby, all the way.

hmmm, Allie's definition of editor is professional bs'er or liar, interesting. ;-)

Whedon sucks at serious world-building

Agreed. Definitely not his skill. Luckily I don't care that much - give me cool characters, interesting emotional arcs, and a bunch of psychological twists and I'm happy. Well, more or less.;-)
