Oh yes, I discovered the UK Free Agents on BBC America so I'm watching it now, and really enjoying it! It is very funny....

And Maybe American Horror Story might be worth fast forwarding through to laugh at.... it really was hilarious w/the Maid

"It does get "overwrought with the emotion" - and it doesn't gradually build up to it. McDermott's screaming match with Vivian felt like it came out of nowhere. And the bully fights in the high school - also abrupt and out of nowhere. They didn't earn their moments, they just jumped right to them. "

They aren't willing to earn anything... they don't build suspense or have any mystery at all, they just keeping jumping from one ridiculous horror cliche to another without even stopping to take a breath. It is laughable. On a better show they would have the burned guy lurking for weeks before he told his story, and neighborly Jessica Lange would be much more effective if she seemed nice for a few weeks before they had us suspect her of not being nice.... But they just aren't willing to hold back on anything.
