My favorite season is a tie between S6 and S2. I love the later seasons, but I enjoy watching the early seasons more. But when it comes to reading fanfic, I prefer reading fics set in the later seasons.

I believe you are right regarding Spike, the dude has a big trigger regarding abusive romantic relationships. People who had a massive trigger on that - hated Spike. Also people who shipped Harmony hated Spike. Xander fans hated Spike. Angel fans hated Spike. I really don't miss the Spike wars...they were exhausting. ;-)
