This latest romance novel I'm reading, courtesy of a rec by "Smart Bitches the Read Romance Novels" is hilarious. It's a silhouette, entitled "The Tycoon's Rebel Bride" - was rec'd as a successful contemporary forbidden love romance.

* Stuck in traffic in NYC, Isabella realized there was no way she'd make it to his engagement party in time to stop him. So she leaped out of the car to run the blocks to the hotel.

Marcus yelled after her, "Wait, you can't just run through the streets of New York City!"

Why the heck not, everyone else does? Granted they usually don't do it in five inch heels and in the rain.

Isabella kicked off her heels.

Okay that makes more sense, but still you can't run effectively barefoot on NYC streets in the rain - without seriously injuring yourself. Although most of us have done it from time to time. I certainly have. And yes, I injured myself. Why she didn't try the subway, I'll never know. Bloody writer clearly has never been to NYC.

* She sucked in her breath and held it when his boxers, with his pants, slipped down and his turgid manhood came into view. Then it stuttered out, a silent staccato in the quiet as he moved closer.

Bwhaahhaah! I didn't realize penises stuttered. Oh well, at least it did it quietly. Got a love these romance writers and their creative description when it comes to sex scenes. Although something tells me that bursting out into uncontrollable bouts of laughter, wasn't exactly what the writer was going for here.

Silly romance novel is distracting me from tv binging. I may have to delete Revolution, although only have four episodes left. I can't quite put my finger on what Kripke (former SPN showrunner) is doing wrong here. I think it's partly the same thing he did wrong in Supernatural...not building the story from an emotional base and relying too strongly on old tv tropes and cliches. Whatever it is...I finding it hard to care about the characters, and I keep finding out about things that seem to pop in out of nowhere. Granted I did miss one episode. But it was only one episode.
