I don't know if they had a consultant on this one. A few years ago, we had leadership in Navy Public Affairs that was very keen on engagement... i.e. cooperating and working with media to get stories out. It led to some events that went really well (they played a big college basketball game on the flight deck of one of our Aircraft Carriers) and things that went less well. (Battleship, the movie)
I think we're less directly engaged these days. But there are an army of retired military folks that would be happy to tell stories and provide input to shows like these...
