I did something of what you said in here. When a big chunk of fandom was gushing about Buffy/Spike finally reunited I was completely disappointed by a Spike boasting about a moronic uneducated slayer which WHOA he still considers a good ride. But, meh, if it's Whedon it's canon, we should procrastinate at his feet even he considers us a "legion of loathsome swines".
