It happens a lot. Weirdly the actors with the best chemistry in films and
television are often (not always) the ones who didn't like each other.
Mainly because the camera picks that up better. It's harder to suppress.
Actors who like each other also have great chemistry. But ambivalence is
hard to work with.
Doesn't matter though. Sex and kissing on-screen isn't fun or sexy for
actors regardless of who you are working with. Even kisses are
choreographed. Because you have to do it for a camera. It helps if you
trust the person you are working with, if you don't -- it's impossible to
do well. Because you have to trust them to have your back and protect you
in the shot. That's the reason Castle got cancelled, the two stars hated
each other, and did not trust each other at all. In the other pairings,
they got along. Marsters and SMG had a sibling relationship of sorts. But
if you can't stand the other person and don't trust them -- it can be
painful.
