He is just a cog in the machine, but heck he can make a difference. He will become the thorn (so aptly named I think) in their side.
We finally sees his twin tonight. After the discovery of the new information in the book of this very Christ-like circle of thorns btw, something he has been trying to do for several episodes now, he realizes that books can't give him all his answers. He has to "do". It is only then that he gets to see himself, his twin. I am so hoping next week Angel gets this reward (of sorts). He will finally be able to look in a mirror and see himself.
