When the going gets tough..the tough watch the Great British Baking Show. If you haven't watched it -- you won't get it. Suffice to say there is nothing like it in the US. I want to live in the world of GBBS, but not as a baker. I want to be Mel and Sue or the other two hosts. Or one of the family members at the tea party. I don't really bake any longer -- because I suck at measurements, and I'm gluten-intolerant, and I'm supposed to never eat baked goods. I'm really good with an easy recipe or a mix that I can play with.

But I adore watching food demonstrations. My other favorite Food Demonstration Series of all time? Two-Fat Ladies, this is really similar.

I'm blatantly ignoring the news. Why unecessarily torture myself with it? Work and life are frustrating on their own.

Work was frustrating today. Not good for diets. Bought chocolate (Rittersport) and fixed myself a cocktail.

Sigh.

I don't know if you are watching this year's Bake Off? (I seem to think you're behind.)

However I actually made an icon of one of this year's contestants (Rahul) who is literally the loveliest person in the world.

As you say, I am sure this show is one of the few things actually holding the world together at the moment.

Another wonderful thing about GBBS is that it has such diversity in the contestants.
Yes, the diversity is great, and also gives a pretty accurate picture of modern multi-cultural Britain. ♥
