I don't understand why people watch it just for the commercials either - unless they are in the business, then yes, it makes sense, but otherwise, no. Besides you can watch all the commercials on the internet afterwards -- so...

If I watch it -- and I have on occasion, it's usually because my co-workers, friends or family have gotten me into a specific team. And I'll watch for that. I did watch it once for the Giants -- the Giants vs. (I think) the Chiefs, and they beat them. (I despise the Kansas City Chiefs, the Broncos, and the New England Patriots, and do like the Giants.) But, while I can enjoy football as a sport -- I cannot stand the way it is shown on television. It's five minutes of play, twenty minutes of commentary and commercials. Bored now. I just do not have the patience for the stop and go action. College football, oddly, is more entertaining. But again, I do lose patience.

Baseball? There's only three teams I like: The KC Royals, the NY Mets, and the Philidelphia Phillies. I can't stand the Cardinals, the Red Sox, and the Yankees get on my nerves -- but I will root for them over the annoying Red Sox. (Let's face it New England has annoying sports teams.)

I don't like the Yankees. The fans annoy me. I did however see a historic double header in Yankee Stadium in the 1990s (when I did like them, before they started to annoy me). We played hookey from work and went at 2PM, we left at 9PM and they were still playing the first game. The second game started at 11 PM. It went on for more than 13 innings, tied.

But I've never really be fannish about sports. I can get excited about it for a bit, but I tend to lose interest.
