Yeah, and sometimes finding a witness who has a warrant out on them can be a real problem. It's amazing how many times the defendant's witnesses had warrants!
Fortunately my reports could be read into the record, so if I found the witness, I could do an interview, write a report, and the defending attorney would use my report as evidence.
