1. Netflix is oddly addictive. In attempting to find and then watch the internet favorite "Bojack Horseman" - I ended up getting sucked into Locke & Key instead. The appeal of Bojack Horseman is completely lost on me by the way. Not that this is at all surprising, since a) I don't like cartoons, and b) I don't like most mean sitcoms. I couldn't get into Fleabag, Louis CK, or Better Things either. The anit-hero sitcom doesn't appear to work for me. I don't know why. But I've tried with critical and social media favorites Bojack and Fleabag three times now, and it's just not happening. I can't get through the first episode of Bojack, and I couldn't make it past episode Three of Fleabag. Sorry, folks, this is just not my cuppa. It tasted sweet to some, to me its too sour to be born.
Locke & Key -- however was rather fun. It's about the Lock family who after their father's tragic death, moves into his ancestral home in New England. Only to discover that within the house are keys that unlock various gateways. The keys are linked to why their father was killed, and what he left behind in the past, of which he never spoke.
It's sort of a puzzle-box. Disappointing in places -- the villain is a bit hooky at times, but also rather interesting. I felt the villain was also a bit reminiscent of the villain in Stranger Things, Sabrina, and various other series.
The keys, which are also weapons, are rather fascinating however. One can unlock your mind, another can take you anywhere you wish to go, a third can take your spirit from your body.
At times it felt a bit like the Goonies mets IT, but overall sort of a fun effort. Not that violent or gory, it is scary in places, but if you can handle Doctor Who, the X-files, Supernatural or Buffy - you'll be fine.
2. Started watching the Norwegian series Ragnarok which is a modern take on the Norse legend of Thor (not the Marvel version but the Norwegian Norse God version). It's filmed in Norway, with Norwegian actors. I'm guessing dubbed in English, since the titles are in Norwegian with English subtitles, but also English dubbing. I'm not sure what to make of it. Saw the first episode, where Magna and his brother Lauratis move back to Ragnarok. Their father had died of Cancer. Magna (aka Thor) meets a girl who is trying to save the environment. Isolde. There's not romance, she's a lesbian, who is in love with another girl. Isolde dies in the first episode, and this triggers Magna to get his powers back. I'm thinking his brother may be the Trickster Loki.
And the bad guys are the Giants, who are hiding in human form.
It has a heavy environmental message.
3. Stumptown
This episode was better than last week's. Although I did see the mystery of the week twist a mile a way, but I always do. TV writers aren't good at writing mysteries. Also we finally got a hot male guest star, he was last seen on Game of Thrones. Irish actor. I really like that actor -- I want to see more of him. He played a tattoo artist who bonded with Dex over losing someone in a traumatic manner. Also Dex gave us a bit more information on Benjamin Black Bird and how he died. I'm thinking she somehow caused it and that's the reason she can't move on and is somewhat reckless about her own life. What's keeping her alive is most likely Ansel, and he's probably why she turned her life around or is trying to. Picked up the first of the comics, by Matt Fraction (a writer whose work I'm familiar with and have mixed feelings about -- he reminds me a little bit too much of Raymond Chandler for his own good). It also does the flash-forward, flash-backward gimmick that this series likes to use, not always to great effect.
They do capture the flavor of the comic though, I'll give them that.
The writers appear to be wanting sell a Dex/Grey romance. DO NOT WANT. They feel like brother and sister to me. One love scene between them was more than enough.
I'm not sure I can stomach another. There's just some people in life - that you will always see as a sibling -- even if they aren't blood relations. They just scan sibling.
Hoffman is getting a bit more interesting -- also the actor playing Hoffman's father is getting around. He had a pivotal role in Locke & Key.
To date the only two people who have had sexual chemistry with Dex is the female hitman and the sexy as sin male tattoo artist. I want her with the tattoo artist, but that's just me. I liked their chemistry and relationship better.
4. Been relaxing a lot this weekend. Not doing all that much. Just chilling. I think I needed a bit of mental health break.

AHHH!! Blasphemy! Ohh! Ohh!
Oh, wait, I'm an atheist. Blasphemy doesn't work.
Nevermind. YMMV.
Seriously, though, this does cause me to inquire, while you may not be a fan in general, there is usually the exception to the rule for most people. Are therre any cartoons (either animated movies or TV shows) that you did really enjoy and/or admire?
I can think of a goodly number, but for me two pinnacles of animation would be the Hayao Miyazaki films such as Spirited Away, or any of the Toy Story films. And then, for something completely different, there's The Simpsons.
What say ye?

I don't really know why I don't like cartoons. Maybe it's a quality issue?
It's a bit like how a lot singers often feel about karaoke. I guess? If I can draw it - I don't like it? If I can't draw it - I think it is amazing?
Anime - I can't draw. I can draw most cartoons, anyone with a smattering of artistic ability can draw most cartoons. It's not hard to draw a cartoon.
