1. Took a long walk to Prospect Park yesterday. [I'd share photos, but it's really not worth figuring out how to do it on DW. I honestly don't know how others are doing it as easily as they are. I keep forgetting all the hurdles I have to go through to do it.] It was a beautiful day, in the 50s, people were out, but not en mass, and I was for the most part able to keep six feet away from them. Prospect Park is a huge city park in Brooklyn, NY. It has a waterfall, rolling hills, trees, a lake, creeks, etc. I didn't make as far as the waterfall. I did make it to the lake and short walk around the trees.
It helped getting out in the fresh air. Also did a movement exercise via my Headspace App, along with more meditation - which has been helping keep anxiety and depression at bay.
Trying not to focus too much on the virus. [Easier said than done. I deal with stuf by becoming as informed as possible and then venting about it and informing everyone else. Annoying, I know, but there it is.] There's not a lot I can do about it. [I wish I could go around and pick up supplies for folks but don't own a car and I'm immune compromised.] Except isolate myself as much as possible. Try to reach out to people electronically, and do my job from home the best I can.
2. I keep getting emails from various places I've bought from in the past two years and who as a result have my email address. To date:
* Macy's has shut down all its department stores. (Apparently one of their retail clerks came down with it and their solution was to shut down immediately. They are, however, continuing shop by mail. I'm hoping this is the case because my mother informed me yesterday that my father has gained weight and can't fit into any of his shorts and she's not sure what to do. My father is slowly becoming someone else - and my mother is struggling to keep up with the changes. The man hasn't really gained weight in over 75 years, now at 83 he is.]
* Good news, UPS has been deemed essential service by all 50 State Governors. So it can continue to be in operation. As a result - yes, we can still send each other stuff by UPS. Now getting to the UPS store or drop off points is another issue entirely.
* Best Buy is creative - you can shop by car. They will sell items to you "curbside", so you can drive up to the store, they'll sell and give you the item, and you can drive away. Or you can order online, drive up to the curb and they will give it to you. The latter sounds more doable. The former? I'm not sure how that works exactly. Also you can continue to shop online, but they have discontinued their installation and take away service. They also won't deliver inside the building but will take it up to the front door. (Not sure how this will work in apartment complex's like mine. Do they take it up to the apartment door? Because if they are leaving it on the street -- that's kind of like giving it away to thieves. Makes me very glad that I bought my TV last year, and my new phone two months ago. I can live with the lap top. Don't have the room or desk space for a monitor/desk top anyhow.)
3. The meetup groups are getting creative as well as my church. Everything is going online. The Sci-Fi Book Club that I joined is now hosting online discussions of the books. The church is hosting online worship services via Facebook Streaming and Zoom. My Bible Study Group is doing it via Zoom. Zoom is the successor to Skype and FaceTime. I prefer Zoom, it's more doable. Also I can not engage video. My Mac has a built in camera and microphone - so this works well. (It's actually better at this sort of thing than my Dell Desktop Monitor at work -- which doesn't work well with this type of thing at all.)
One meetup was hosting letting off anxiety, singles walks in neighborhood parks -- which I don't think works. Because your still with people, folks. And unless you are all walking 6 feet apart...
4. I did find things to watch on television, after a lot of skipping about. Also, apparently, a lot of the television shows that I was watching and taping on the old DVR had their final "filmed or taped" episode this week. Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1 Lonestar, Station 19, A Million Little Things and Stumptown. And some of them ended on cliff-hangers.
I've mixed feelings about Stumptown. Am kind of done with Grey's and Station 19. On the fence about 9-1-1 Lonestar, and weirdly comforted by A Million Little Things.
Rented Charlies Angels - the Elizabeth Banks version, with Kristen Stewart and Patrick Stewart. It was actually more entertaining than the previous versions, and feminist. I needed a feminist film this week badly. Elizabeth Banks sounds and acts a lot like Parker Posey. I get the two confused. They sound almost the same.

You and me both.

No kidding. To me the main benefit of delivery was that they would be carrying it upstairs because there was no way Mike and I were managing it without damaging the TV. I remember that when some furniture was delivered several years ago, which we bought online, the shipper just dropped off the package at the curb -- and at first wanted to leave it at the end of the block because the truck was big and hard to turn around in the U of our parking lot! Mike and I basically dragged that thing upstairs over the stairs. It could take it, but not a TV.
And I had to pay them to install the TV as well, not because we actually needed help with set up, but we needed them to be able to unpack the TV and screw on the base, then lift it to where it needed to be which was all difficult because of its weight. And with them doing the job, if it got damaged we could get a replacement.

I had to do the same thing for the same reasons. There was no way I was going to be able to do it. I also had to order a television stand to put the television on last year - from Way Fair, which was very heavy, and I needed to hire a handy man to put together. So happy this happened last year. There's no way I could do it now.
Oh, there's new commercials now - Sprint and Verizon are doing commercials about how they will be supporting us in these uncertain times.

I'm using the time to lose some weight. I'm down 10 pounds from mid-February. I'd like to lose another 10. Did I mention I've got a kitchen full of food and I'm hungry?
singles walks in neighborhood parks -- which I don't think works.
Only works if you keep it singles!
Ho, ho, ho. Or more accurately hoe, hoe, hoe. Not having a good excuse to put it off any longer and needing the exercise, I've been hoeing weeds out of the 'garden area' in my backyard. The roses look like they'll be nice this year. It will take a while for the ruellia to recover from winter.

Me too. I'm also using it to bring down my blood sugar levels. I can't go out and buy chocolate covered marshmellow easter eggs any longer or Ritter Sport Chocolates imported from Germany - this is a good thing. I did go through a container of celery today (dipped in almond butter).

LMAO! I don't think that's the plan. I saw this yesterday - there was a group of people walking to the park together, I had to get ahead of them. (I did avoid them by more than 20 feet, thankfully.) And apparently that's what the Governor saw in Central Park - so he's going to have to put in tougher restrictions.
Ah, gardening, a good practice. I took a short walk - about two blocks, there was really no one out today - just about five people, and five cyclists, I was able to avoid them for the most part.
Also did lunges, wall squats, jog in place, knee lifts, and stretching exercises.
Followed by apartment cleaning - this helped. It got rid of all the energy. (I'm an introvert - I get energized being alone.)

Greta Gerwig has well Noah Baumbach (A Marriage Story and The Squid and the Whale, Frances Ha) as a hubby, so that helps.
