I think you have hit the nail on the head with regards to BTVS. I love the show, and when there were plotholes and such, I just filled them right in to suit myself. I think it is the genius of the show that it can be seen and interpreted in so many different ways. Although that can lead to some heated debate, I think it is the reason we are continuing to talk about it even after the ending of the series. If everything was tied in a neat little bow, it would leave little scope for discussion.
I think this is true. At least for me. I find I have relatively little interest in discussing shows that are more tightly plotted such as CSI. There's nothing to break a part. I suppose it depends on what interests someone. I like gaps in stories - pieces not told. Depends on the gaps of course. The gaps in Season 6 BTVS fascinated me more than the gaps in Season 7 BTVS, but that like everything else is a subjective thing.
Sorry to hear about poor Oscar. I am a cat lover/owner myself. Hope it works out for the little guy and for your friend.
Thank you. I think they will be fine. Have owned several pets in life time, including five cats as a child, not all at the same time. Adore cats. Cannot afford to own one now though. Maybe someday. 'Course with allergies to mold spores and dust, it may not be a wise idea.
