There was a lot of argument on various boards abt whether or not someone who did that poorly in school could've gotten SAT scores that high -- the general consensus being no way, even if she was a genius
Actually it was an authorial dig at the SAT tests in general and how completely inaccurate they are in determining one's ability to succeed in college. (Or, ie. they are rigged.) They make it a little obvious in that episode: Willow (the brain) gets lower scores than Cordelia and Buffy, and Oz, who states that he just tests well. The author is basically poking fun at standardized tests. (Which is one of things I loved about the series actually, because I despise standardized testing with a vengeance. )
