Also, I've listened to the song over fifteen million times - via a mixed tape my brother sent me in 1987. Haven't in a while. I did see it sung in concert at Wembley Stadium in 1987, live, with Peter Gabriel - it was the song the entire audience stood up for en mass and lit lighters for. Before that they were all seated. The Brits sit for their concerts or they did in the 1980s.

I don't know if dates well, though. Very dated. And very much a song of its time. We sung and wrote a lot of songs about the South Africa Apartheid when I was in college, we were protesting it in college.
