Day #16 of 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is A science fiction film or television series that you enjoy (doesn't have to be horror but should have a scary episode. If it's not horror - pick a scary or horror related episode to show.)

This is a movie I've re-watched several times, and read the book. Is it a masterpiece, probably not. I've also seen all the sequels.

Jurassic Park is a not so subtle satire on the amusement park fetish. And the idea of going a bit too far with science for one's own economic advancement and hubris.

It's also rather clever and biting at times. There's some great lines in it, and some great sequences. It's genuinely frightening in places, and breathtaking in others.

This was easy. Science fiction is my favorite genre.

Interstellar. Scary: absolutely, on many levels--will they all die, will they manage to save humanity's ass--but also awe-inspiring, timey-wimey, and emotionally resonant. Plus: SCIENCE LADIES save the day!

I was so obsessed with this movie I requested it for Yuletide. Why is there not more fic?!

I really, really, really regret not seeing this in a theater. I skipped it because I'd read that the soundtrack was so loud that audiences had trouble understanding the dialog over the score. Maybe so but it wasn't an issue on the DVD. If it ever gets re-released, I'll be first in line.

I have never seen Jurassic Park, not sure why. Figured it out. My son was too young to see it and it wasn't exactly a date night film either. Maybe I'll try to check it out of the library.

I can't wait to see everyone's responses.

Oh my... which one of two faves to pick here? Hmmm...

Okay, I'll go with this underrated classic "body snatcher" genre flick:

I'll post my other choice in a few days in case no one else posts it, 'cos it's another good'n!

I think you just like to try and find obscure films that I've not heard of.

I do my best! But they need to be good, or at least entertaining obscure flicks. It's much the same as the classic audio gear I work on-- the general public has barely heard of many of the brands I'm familiar with, but even among those, there is the really, truly great old stuff, and the-- just plain ordinary old stuff. There's even occasionally some stuff which pretty much should never have become stuff.

My favorite radio station has a neat promo quip about their playlist... it's "Curated, not encoded." That's kind of my approach to a lot of things.
