Day #18 of the 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

This is Day #18 of The 30 Days of Halloween Challenge.

The prompt is: A film or television series that was adapted from a horror novel (not a vampire novel - that had its own category) - doesn't have to be good.

The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick, adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name.

The Thirteenth Warrior (1999) was an adaptation of Michael Crichton novel Eater's of the Dead which in turn owes a lot to Beowulf and a genuine historical account of a 10th century Arab visiting Norsemen/Vikings in what is now Russia.

The movie bombed at the box office and has generally poor reviews, but I rather like it. (I read the book long before the movie was made.)

I'm going with Ira Levin's "Rosemary's Baby":

Funny story:

When interviewed for Eli Roth's "History of Horror" series, Jack Black said he was talking to his then-pregnant wife about great horror movies, and "Rosemary's Baby" came up. She'd never seen it. Jack was astonished. Why, she had to see it RIGHT NOW.

For weeks afterward, she was convinced she was giving birth to the Antichrist.

In retrospect, said Jack, that was not one of his better decisions.

I've seen bits and pieces of The Silence of the Lambs but I've never made it all the way through it. I am sure it's a fine film but I have no stomach for horror.
