This is Day #23 of The 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is Scariest film or television monster - provide a film clip or television clip featuring that monster.

Playing my Buffy card for this one...although I've kind of removed the rules. I'm tired of rules. I'd make a horrible teacher, or disciplinarian, I hate enforcing them, and tend to forget them if they aren't logical. I have a lot of rules in my workplace. Government agencies love rules.

ETA - I take that back - there is one rule - no spider creatures! I'm arachnaphobe - nothing with spiders.

I've always found the "Alien" creatures pretty scary so I'm choosing Ripley vs The Queen .

Agreed. And I can't watch it at all. Kind of similar to my spider phobia. Thank you, by the way for not going with the spiders.

Helped exceedingly by the score. I honestly think HUSH had the scariest monster of the series, next to the thing in S7 that ate the skin of its victims, after paralyzing them.

Okay, after much pondering, I'm going to go with the name of a monster I had long since forgotten, and had to look up, since it's been a few decades since I last saw this film.

Ah yes, the cult classic. Which I've never watched - mainly because I don't do body horror very well. I think there's only one or two Croenberg films that I've made it through - and both were rather tame in comparison to most of his body horror films.

But about as close to cactuswatcher's choice as you can get. Haven't watched it for the same reasons I don't watch cactuswatcher's.

Agreed, and I thought it was more yucky than scary, whereas the Gentlemen were spooky.

Your thing is spiders; my squick point is the violation of the human form, watching it morph into something unrecognizable. That's why I can barely watch The Fly (either version), and the "chest buster" scene in Alien always hits me on a (heh) gut level.

But since I've covered the Fly in previous posts, and others have claimed Alien, let me just say two words:

I'm surprised that your squick point is the violation of the human form. (As an aside, the spider thing is more of a phobia than a squick point. Violation of the human form and body horror - is a major squick point of mine - it's why I have not been able to watch most Croenberg films. I think I've only been able to watch three of them - and they weren't horror movies. It's also why I've never been able to watch the Fly - I can't. I've tried, and given up. Also there's a scene in Poltergiest that is really hard to watch - it's cut from most of the television viewings. It was not cut from the version in the movie theater - unfortunately.)

Ah..you picked "The Thing" - I considered it, but I've never made it through it either. I remember a friend of my parents or an uncle telling me how the old black and white film - The Thing scared him to death.

For someone with a major squick factor - you've actually watched a lot of films that make you crazy.
