February Meme

Here's the February Meme...

1. What are your favorite indoor activities?

Writing, reading, watching television, cooking, sleeping, watching things outside my window, drawing, painting, yoga (okay not really a favorite), meditation, talking to my mom on the phone..

2. What are you favorite outdoors activities?

Walking, siting in the sun, hiking, watching birds and animals and people, swimming (well when I can find a clean fairly vacant pool - which is impossible in NYC), walking on a fairly empty beach (also impossible in NYC - they have beaches, but they are also covered with people or difficult to get to without a car), hiking in the mountains...eating outside, watching musical or theater performances outside..

3. How do you feel about plastic surgery?

Ack. Ack. Ack.

4. What responsibilities do you think the media have, if any?

To fact check, report fairly and responsibly, to focus on providing factual information and not give into juicy gossip and hyperbole. (BTW they've all failed on this big time). Also to share stories - real ones about people, so we get a clear picture of what is happening.

5. What is your take on organ donation?

As long as it is consensual, and you can do it safely without any harm to anyone involved - go for it. Organ donations save lives.

6. What do you think about hunting?

Depends on the situation. If you are hunting to feed your family, and use everything, then no issues. Also if you are doing it with a weapon that won't tear up or unreasonably hurt the animal - and there's too many of that specific animal - to the extent that it is hurting the environment, then yes. (ie. Deer in certain areas, because we've killed off their predators, and rabbits in certain areas.) Also if the animal is rabid, or a danger to people - rabid raccoons, wolves, and bears...but if you can humanely trap them and humanely move them elsewhere - this is for the best.

Hunting for sport? I'm firmly against. Also trophy hunting is just disgusting and gross and people should be ashamed of themselves. It's a definite symptom of SAS. (Selfish Asshole Syndrome).

7. What places are you really grateful exist?

Too many to list here. Grand Canyon, NYC, London, Istanbul, Great Barrier Reef, Paris, Rocky Mountains, Catskills, Hudson River Valley, the beaches at Hilton Head, The Mediterrean, Africa, Alaska, Canada, Costa Rica...the earth, the moon...

8. What does it mean to you to be spiritual?

To believe in something greater than oneself and to feel connected to it and everyone else's spirit and to all living things.

9. Do you believe things happen for a reason?

Yes. But we're too tiny to begin to see or understand it. Mainly because it would be like a thread in a tapestry understanding its role in the tapestry or the pattern in it. We can't see the pattern of our choices and others, and why they occur - we're too close to it to see it. But given enough distance, everything makes sense.

10. What is your take on making mistakes?

Learning experiences. Sometimes I need to make them multiple times though - because I'm incredibly dense.

11. Who would you like to trade lives with for a day and why?

Hard one. I don't know. I've seen too many science fiction shows on this concept, it never ends well.

12. How would a stranger that met you at a dinner party describe you?

I honestly don't know. And would prefer not to.

13. How old do you feel?

54. I always feel my age. It's a thing.

14. How has getting older helped you deal with challenges in life?

More accepting of them. I also realize everything is temporary and I'm likely to forget it in a few years anyhow.

15. When I have a look around my home, it’s very obvious that I…

Need to dust and vacuum more. Also get rid of a lot of papers. People send me too many papers that I've no clue what to do with.

16. Within the next month I will…

Get the second vaccine, clean out my closet, put my winter/fall clothes in vacuum flattened bags. (Actually self-vacuumed bags because robot vacuums don't do that.) Go on a diet. (note this is for March - I have no idea what I did in February - that was last month. See Question 14. Apparently I forget faster now.)

17. 5 years ago I never thought…

See Question 14. Although if pressed? I most likely didn't think I'd be living through a pandemic. I definitely didn't think Biden would end up becoming the next President. That twist kind of surprised me. I thought Biden was done with politics.

18. What are you most fascinated by at the moment?

The sky. It keeps changing, it's like watching the ocean. Calm one minute, stormy the next. Right now it is a crystal blue. I have very nice view of sky outside my living room windows.

19. What are the three most dominant emotions in your life right now?

I don't know. At the moment, I feel nothing. Kind of calm. But I have been flucuating lately from Relief to Fear/Anger and back again. It's making me irritable.

20. What is sure to make you cry?

Hallmark commercials? Sorry, joke. It kind of set itself up for that.

If I'm hormonal? Anything. If I'm not - someone helping a stranger or an animal or someone in need that they don't know.

21. How does the weather effect your mood?

I'm a human weather vane, apparently. Sunny days - I tend to be more cheerful. Rainy days - more irritable, with few exceptions. Barometric pressure shifts often equal sinus headaches from hell.

22. What would you change if you knew you could not fail?

Jobs.

23. If you could get rid of anything on the planet what would it be?

The Republican Party and Trumpism

24. What would be the ultimate travel experience for you?

This is hard, I can think of quite a few. African Safari, Sailing in Thailand, River cruise in China along the Yangtasee River. Taking the Orient Express across Europe and Asia. Hiking in the Himalayas. Taking a cruise down the Amazon, and hiking Machu Picchu. Sailing the Greek Islands.
A river cruise in France. A horse back riding hiking tour of Italy.
Wandering about in Ireland. Staying in Scottish Castle.
Ballooning across Germany.

Traveling in New Zealand, with a cruise and lots of walking/hiking.

25. What’s the most recent show you’ve binge watched?

Hmm...have I binged anything recently? Ponders. I think the last one was Bridgerton to be honest. I've not found anything to binge. Wandavision wasn't released all at once.

26. What conclusions did you make about money as a child?

It's easy to lose it (I sucked at Monopoly). People will do anything to get it. If you have it - don't tell people about it. Make sure you have enough to be financially independent or you will be dependent on others, homeless and starving.

Also money should be used to help as many people as possible. If someone needs help - give them money.

27. What would you like to have less of in your work right now?

Procrastinators - who take forever to do their job. Confusion. And bosses.

28. What did you love to do as a child?

Read and tell myself stories. Also walk in the woods. Swim. And draw.

Papers: haha, I've just started a new file folder. /-:

A meeting I had on Friday afternoon was about checking where someone is up to on a task they've not reported on since being given more information about it several weeks ago.
