The July Meme...which I realize you are supposed to do daily, but I won't remember.
1. Have there been any periods in your life that could be described as being chaotic?
Externally no, internally yes. I think that's the best answer actually.
2. What was the last thing you bought used?
Can't remember. Also I don't think I bought it - so much as took it from someone who no longer wanted it. I live in NYC - we often just do it that way. At any rate it's been a very long time - it may have been a book or a coffee table (that I no longer own, and just took).
3. Has anyone ever told you that you're getting too competitive over minor things?
No, nor do I project that sort of image. I don't like competition.
4. What was the first thing you ever saved up to buy with your own money?
Probably a book.
5. After high school – straight to college or straight to work?
College.
6. If I looked in your fridge right now, what would I find?
Drinking water, various types of nut and coconut milk containers, fruit, salad greens, vegetables, one egg (I need to get more), meat, fish, ice cubes, protein powder....it's crowded in there.
7. If you had to move to a new city, where would you move?
Interesting question - either Rochester, Boston, London, or Toronto. All have public transportation and are lovely and near water.
8. What did your parents do when you were growing up?
My father was a compensation and organizational consultant. My mother - a speech pathologist, and then basically my mother, doing volunteer work.
9. When someone knocks on the door, who do you think it is?
The Super or his wife. Or a delivery person.
10. Did your parents live in a different country before you were born?
No.
11. What's something you've experienced that very few others have?
Hmmm. I did a parole hearing in a locked down prison during a thunderstorm? I don't think many people have done that.
12. Do you have to wear an identification badge at your job?
Yes, or rather just to get in and out of the buildings.
13. Do you like when friends stop by unexpectedly?
It never happens, so don't think much about it. People don't tend to do this in NYC.
14. How old were you when you moved to your current home?
I don't know. Sometime in my late 40s. It's not something I'd have kept track of.
15. If you apply your makeup, do you do it in a specific order?
Usually, I used to apply foundation first then eyeliner, but with the whole mask thing - it's often just eyeliner if at all.
16. Were you born with naturally straight teeth?
More or less.
17. Do you like going to museums? Any particular type?
Yes. Natural History and Space are my favorite, although I do like art museums.
18. What time do you usually go to bed at on weekends?
Midnight
19. How often do you re-watch / re-read things or are you more ‘once only’?
Not that often. I do it periodically - if I love a particular story and can't remember it too clearly. There's a lot of content I've not read or seen yet out there...so..
20. If you could marry any celebrity today who would it be?
I wouldn't want to marry a celebrity. I don't like being the center of attention and seen, and they adore it. Also you can't go anywhere without idiots invading your personal space. Ugh. No thank you.
21. Do you own anything that's an antique?
No. The appeal is kind of lost on me.
22. Do you let your hair air dry or do you blowdry it?
Lately I've been letting it air dry. But I do both.
23. How long does it take for you to fall asleep at night?
Depends. Lately, not that long about 15-30 minutes tops - due to changes in diet and meditation. Meditation really helped me fall asleep faster.
24. What's the first thing you do when you get on the computer?
Check my email.
25. What's one item that you wish you owned right now?
Drawing a blank. Do I want to own a house? Eh. Sometimes?
26. Do you like makeup?
No. The appeal of makeup has always been lost on me.
27. What celebrity death(s) effected you the most?
Eh, I don't tend to be effected by celebrity deaths that much. It's no different than anyone else dying. I was upset Carrie Fisher died.
28. Musician you would like to see live if you had the chance?
I clearly don't care that much one way or another or I'd have have seen them. I would have liked to have seen David Bowie. Also, Prince & the Revolution, and U2 live would have been nice.
29. Have you ever met an online friend in real life?
Yes. Several. Sometimes works out, sometimes it doesn't.
30. What would you miss most if you moved from the area you currently live in?
The ease of transportation. I can go anywhere, at pretty much any time, without driving. I don't know of many places in the world you can do that.
Also, access to instant culture, whether it be books, museums, music, theater, movies, etc. (Usually or in most cities around the US - it's just sports, music...and that's about it.), and the diversity - not many places in the US are this diversified.
31. Have you ever cried in school?
Yes. This is an odd question. Everyone cries. Whether they want to or not.
Repressing it can make you ill. It's natural to cry.
Sometimes I hate our culture and want to smack it upside the head.
