Year 2 - Day #138...

I kind of got stuff done today, although was a touch distracted. Also did a webinar, which I tried to explain to mother.

Me: It's an online power-point seminar. Hence webinar.
Mother: So how'd your Zoom lecture go?
Me: It's on MS Teams, the government hates Zoom, we do everything on Teams.
As a result I have Zoom, Citriz, and Teams installed on my computer now, along with FaceTime. Gotta love technology.

The webinar was about how to correct key procurement deficiencies found in Federal Procurement Contracts under audit, specifically when utilizing funding provided under the COVID stimulus packages.

It was about an hour and a half. I was having issues focusing on it.

Also worked on revising the change order from hell yet again - this time after Breaking Bad sent me his changes. Breaking Bad, being highly allergic to technology, printed off my red line, made comments on it in red ink, then scanned it and sent it back to me. So I had to send it to my home email address, in order to print it off at home and read his comments. He attached it to an email in which he advised that upon reading my change order - he was utterly livid at the project managers and budget group for creating this ungodly mess. To which, I retorted, eh, you think this is bad, the previous mess was worse. It was. I managed to talk them out of that version - simply by stating that there was no way in hell it would be approved.

Honestly, it will be a minor miracle if I manage to get this change order awarded before the end of this year. I keep having to explain what the project team and budget group did. Over and over again. My job appears to be explaining things people have over-complicated to folks, often multiple times. It would help if I could have gotten this approved by my previous boss and agency, who at least understood it, but no...I have to get it approved by the clueless new agency.

In other semi-work related news, the New York Governor is in trouble. This comes as a surprise to well no one who works in a NY State Agency or in the political arena. Actually, it's been a long time coming apparently.

I can't feel that sorry for him - he's partly responsible for Crazy Org and new crazy agency, which was all his idea.

What happened? The Attorney General - Letitia James Investigation uncovered that Cuomo's sexual harassment was wide-spread.

Per the NY Times Briefing:

President Biden called for the resignation of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York after a state investigation found that Mr. Cuomo, a third-term Democrat, had sexually harassed several women. Read the attorney general’s report here.

New York lawmakers expect to conclude an impeachment inquiry into Mr. Cuomo soon. “He can no longer remain in office,” the Assembly speaker said.

Here are the latest updates:

* Report finds Mr. Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and retaliated against one for going public.

*Governor Cuomo is under criminal investigation and could face lawsuits.

*“I believe these 11 women,” Letitia James says as she reveals the report’s findings.

*Charlotte Bennett, a Cuomo accuser, says governor is “victim blaming.”

* These are the women who have accused Mr. Cuomo of sexual harassment and improper conduct.

* The words of the women who accused Mr. Cuomo: “I felt completely violated.”

* “Deeply, deeply disturbing”: Democrats say Mr. Cuomo should resign or be impeached.

* The report finds that Mr. Cuomo harassed a state trooper assigned to his protective detail.

Cuomo in response, had his attorney release a Rebuttal Statement Online

So basically what we have is the He Said/She Said scenario that often arises in these situations. And it's hard to know who is telling the truth, since it's politics - and everyone has an agenda.

I don't like Cuomo (he's a bully), but I'm not sure I'll like whomever they replace him with any better. For the most part - he's handled the pandemic well, just not much else.

COVID

New York will require proof of vaccination for indoor dining and gyms, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced. It will be the first U.S. city to do so.

The move, similar to Covid-19 mandates issued in France and Italy last month, will start on Aug. 16. After a transition period, enforcement will begin on Sept. 13, when schools are expected to reopen and more workers may be returning to offices. De Blasio has been moving aggressively to vaccinate more New Yorkers to curtail a third wave of coronavirus cases.

I personally thought they should have done that to begin with. There's a question on FB - stating, "Do you know anyone who has had COVID? Answer Yes or No." I answered yes, then my father's pesky family members proceeded to say no.

Aunt C: No!
ME: Uhm, Aunt C, we have family members in common who had it.
C: No one on FB.
Me: It's not just people on FB, it's everyone.
Uncle D: This may not be a conversation to have publicly. (He's probably talking about my hypocritical youngest Aunt, who I've disowned.)
Me: All you have to say is Yes or No.
Uncle D: Maybe.
Me: Look, I know you know people - we know some of the same people that had it. It's important you be honest about this - because there are nitwits out there that think it is fake.
Uncle D: In that case, Yes, over 35 people.

Sigh. I told my mother tonight that I think my father's relatives were dropped on their head at birth.

Cases are up again in my area - it's high risk again. It's kind of been for most of this thing. I'm used to it. And wear masks, except when I'm outside and more than six feet apart. My area isn't that crowded - or not as many people wander about on side-walks as elsewhere. There's more idiotic cyclists and cars.

Watching the Olympics again tonight. Saw the 200 meter. And will be watching Simone Biles, which is recorded, the track is live. I don't have the patience though - so I missed her balance beam performance. Maybe they will replay more of it? The mask's the athletes have on are great.

Also seems to be some shame or embarrassment about having COVID-19 in the family in some cases - whether it's about denial or something else. At least, I hear of surprisingly many people with not-elderly not-obviously-unhealthy family members dying of things like pneumonia.

At least your Uncle D admitted the truth.
