Oh re. Halloween being a thing in the UK, then it's something that has grown in popularity over the past... 10-20 years? Definitely an American import, but it's very much a thing now, and people like decorating and the children like Trick-or-Treating. Of course it's Bonfire night a few days later, but the two events don't really overlap. Bonfire night has bonfires and fireworks and toffee apples and parkin, all of which is different to Halloween.

Personally I don't mind Halloween, partly because it stops people going crazy with Christmas decorations too soon! :)
