My favorite ice cream is from childhood. My grandmother and I used to go downtown once a month and visit a place called Hunt's. They had hot dogs and the most amazing lemon ice cream. It was real cream ice cream, not a sorbet and I have looked for and tried to make something similar for years. The closest I have had was in a gelato place and when I asked them what was different about their's, they said sassafras. Sadly, they never made it again and have since changed owners.
