Worked very well for Haunting of Hill House. Also Station Eleven did much the same thing. It does work well for most series. In The Bear - it works quite well.
But it has to be consistent, I think, or it would be jarring?
Lost kind of is known for coming up with the individual character study episodes. Where the entire episode is told in that character's perspective, and via flashbacks.
