This struck a chord because I am currently suffering through the dullest of stories because it's an audiobook and is currently all I have loaded on my phone for walks. In this book pretty much everyone seems to be dull and intellectually challenged but the heroine's "journey" seems to mostly involve other characters tearing down her independence.
