Got a breezy haircut. Tipped about 25%, so it was all told $97. Still cheaper than Carroll Gardens site, which was $138 without tip.
Hairstylist told me to keep the gray, she said I had soft white gray, and it looked nice in my hair - so I really shouldn't die it. Apparently there are folks out there who want that color - gray highlights, which I have. And it's ridiculously difficult to maintain.
Me: I heard it's hard to maintain?
Stylist: It is - you have to re-do it every two-three weeks. And when it fades...it turns green.
Me: Green?
Stylist: Yup green, and not a pretty green.
Me: Why do people do it?
Stylist: They want what they don't already have.
There's a lesson in there somewhere.
It was about a ten - fifteen minutes from my apartment. And it is nice to have a hair stylist nearby, who I can easily get bookings. The more expensive spot in Carroll Gardens is a 15-20 minute train ride from my home, booked solid for weeks. While this one had a time on Sunday, was cheaper, and just a quick walk. On a hot day - that's what I wanted.
Plus exercise. There's a yoga place near there - along with a nice coffee and tea place. I got rasberry hisbicus tea afterward. Hamilton's - a local eatery is across the street.
Hot today. In the mid-nineties. And humid. Felt like a sauna.
Spoke to mother, after I sent her a photo of the new haircut.
Mother: There's a vulture, a pretty big one sitting on my roof.
Me: How can you see it?
Mother: I'm sitting in the expressway and looking out the window across at it.
Me: Okay, that's kind of creepy.
Mother: Not sure why it's there...
Me: Anything dead around -
Mother: I doubt it would be interested in your father's ashes, unless it is interested in me?
Me: I wasn't going to go there...but here we are.
She also informed me that my brother won't be around at Christmas - he's off to Hawaii. Must be nice to be able to travel anywhere.
Me: Hawaii? Again?
Mother: Yeah, they've not been there in a while and feel its time to visit again.
Sigh. I want to go to Hawaii.
Mother: We could go on our own or somewhere else?
Me: Uhm okay.

Watching another episode of S8 "Alone", which is not the current season. And is the only season available on NETFLIX, who likes to show single seasons of various series. So does HBO Max for that matter.
Apparently they can only bring so many items with them. Such as either a fire starter or a tarp.
This group is more likable than the last one in the first episode. There's ten people. We've seen five in the first episode, and now five different ones in the second one. This group is more innovative in regards to foraging, building and figuring out how to handle things.
One guy is building a boat - as opposed to a shelter. "You have to prioritize," he states. "Food is more important than shelter - so if I build a boat, I can use it every day to fish, as opposed to worrying about getting food."
Meanwhile, the women, Therese, and Michelle, are collecting wild vegetables, mushrooms, berries, and bugs. So too, is another guy, he's collecting bugs, and he's angling.
Also the women have dug holes for shelters. Then placed tarps over them. One wisely cooks away from her shelter.
Their backgrounds are kind of interesting. Michelle lived with an indigenous tribe for a while, and has built her own shelter and lived in it for a while in Maine. She lives in Maine. Therese is an expert in Stone Age botany and foraging, and has built private shelters, also teaches wildlife survival skills - they both do. (They aren't together, everyone is alone.)
Also they've all left family behind - husbands, kids, etc. Why do this if you have family? I don't understand other people.
The reward for the last person standing is $500,000, so you basically just have to outlast everyone else?
Also, as an aside - this is apparently a great way to lose weight. Good to know. Go on a wilderness and adventure and lose 100 pounds. Also, a storm happened that is half snow and half rain, and this nitwit, Jordan, hiked way out away from his shelter - which is just a tarp tent. He was trying to fish and get food. Epic fail. He didn't succeed at all.
Meanwhile, Michelle made a chair. If I ever go into the wilderness - I want Michelle and Clay with me. Clay can shoot anything on the planet with a bow, and Michelle can build anything and is an expert forager. The others might kill me. Jordan's not too bad either. He's the angler.
The angler caught a fish with just a set-line, no boat required.

San Diego Comic Con was rather awesome this year - apparently.
Trailers...
Neil Gaiman's Sandman Panel, and the release of the Trailer and release date - this is the biggest oddball property in the DC Tent.
Wakanda Forever Trailer Dropped - it looks amazing. The heroes are the "women" of Wakanda fighting the villians - Namor and the Atlanteans.
Namor is considered the first "mutant" of the Marvel Verse in the comics.
There's more see previous post for list.

I'm debating taking a day off next week. I'm not sure. I have ten vacation days, one personal day, and approximately 2-3 comp days left. Three vacation days and three bereavement days are being used for my Dad's funeral in Sept.

A little scary about the vulture.
Excited about Wakanda Forever! It was heartbreaking to see T'Challa/CB but it is nice that they're honoring him with this movie too.
