Post-Election Blues...

1.) For those with the Post-Election Blues (yesterday was the Mid-Term election in the US, which ahem had mixed results):

The Day the Politicians Died by the Magnetic Fields

Regarding the election? I woke up this morning at 5:45 am, per usual, got myself together, made my oatmeal and watched NY1, which went through the election results. They do a better job than most of the channels on local and district races.

Sigh. Staten Island. Sigh. You continue to be the political thorn in our side. You and Long Island. Also South Brooklyn. But according to NY1, Nicole Malliotakis won because of Staten Island. Staten Island? Your Day of Reckoning is coming. I truly hate this woman. She's a bigoted Trump supporter and a misogynist - proof women can be misogynistic.

Malliotakis is the Alt-Right's version of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. What is about NY and annoyingly inexperienced politicians, who seem to know more about social media advertising than actual governance?

Granted Max Rose was a weak candidate. What we need is a good strong moderate Republican who can kick Nicol's ass in the primaries. It's not my District, I live in a Liberal District or Blue. How do I know this? All the judgeships in my District were Democrat.

Also, damn, Mike Lawyer won, beating out long-term Congressman Scean Patrick Maloney. This asshole wants to work on parents' rights, taxes, crime and bail issues. Frigging Rockland County.

A big issue in NYC is bail and crime. In 2020-21 - the Democrats reduced bail or removed the requirement, which has resulted in a bit of a controversy. On the one hand - there were a lot of folks in prison getting COVID, but had not been convicted of a crime. On the other - there were a lot of people who'd been robbing pharmacies, etc, and getting freed on bail and let go. A lot of folks are angry and scared about this - I get it, I was a victim of a robbery this year as well (damn porch pirates), but I can see the other side.

Oh well at least Lee Zeland lost to Hochel, but I knew he would. He's Long Island and a Trump Supporter - the City and Upstate would not vote for him.

The results were surprising in that, they expected a Red Wave, and didn't get it. Instead it was kind of split down the middle again - and it was historically the best showing for a sitting President in a long time. Obama lost both the Senate and the House in large margins, Trump lost the House.
Biden...it's unclear at the moment which way it will go.

Texas and Florida, I've no sympathy for - they deserve all the horrors that come their way. They kept their bigoted misogynistic nasty ass governors.
Although there were quite a few who fought to get rid of them, and failed.

But, Dr. Oz lost to Fetterman, thank god, flipping a Senate Seat in PA.

Overall, not much changed. We still have a divisive country and a dysfunctional government, who is too busy chasing its own tail to actually govern. I blame the donors and lobbyists, with their agendas. I want a campaign donation list for some of these candidates so I can boycott all the donors. Which could prove problematic if they happen to be my bank (can't switch that without major issues), credit cards, or phone service.
It's easier to boycott stuff I don't need to use.

2. Work is still trying to kill me. But I did manage to help someone, sort of, and resolve their issues - by finding a person who actually could solve the problem.

FM thanked me for it.

I feel overwhelmed at work. And I honestly am losing track of things.

3. I'm upset with myself. I had the Free Libre 3 sugar level check system before, but got COVID, and freaked out over it (having something stuck in your arm for two weeks is disconcerting), so stopped. Except it had brought my sugar levels down, and I'd lost weight on it. Now, they are way up. I weigh about the same, maybe slightly more.

Oh, well, I managed to cut my sugar and carbs (turns into sugar) intake by about 80% today. Had a little - to keep from crashing.

I'm off all candy, chocolate, baked goods, or anything with added sugar. If it's not natural sugars like say blueberries, I'm not eating it any longer.
Already feel a little better, but still off.

This reminds me of going off glutens or being diagnosed as gluten intolerant. Same process. Just as painful. Except going off glutens was weirdly easier. Sugar is in EVERYTHING. And I can crash - if I get low blood sugar. (This is why the doctor wants me on Free Style Libra patch - it tracks my blood sugar all day and all night. )

But alas, the pharmacy is out of it - and had to order more. It was out of stock. So, for the time being, I'm moderating sugar levels, by going off sugars and cutting on carbs. Also, eating foods that lower blood sugar levels like nuts, celery, water, broccoli, berries...and metoformin.

At least, I'm halfway there. I've been eating healthy, more or less. I just have had too many carbs and too much candy. That's all.

I stayed away from news on Tuesday. In fact I only got bits of it yesterday, mostly about local ones. It's a relief that things went much better than predicted, though we still need to find out what will happen in Congress.
