Bookshelves that I'm flirting with...

1. Spine Standing Bookcase

2. 6 Tier or 8 tier Tree Bookshelf

3. Side standing bookshelf

All require assembly though. Some are easier than others. All time consuming. I suppose I could hire a handyman to do it.

I've been procrastinating buying new bookshelves for years - why? Assembly. I'm afraid of the assembly. Pathetic, but there it is.

It could be worse - I could have them still in boxes under my bed, or all in the ratty old coffee table. I can't let go of them - some are signed copies, and I've not read a lot of the books.

Thoughts? Dare I ask? Kind afraid to ask...

They are all very attractive! I like the angled one - I like the "wood" and I like the angles - although I have never tried to actually put books on one like that and don't know how well it works to actually put books on it!

I guess it would depend on the type of books you have - they do all seem to be geared toward taller/bigger books - rather than wee paperbacks.

I really like the second one, if size and space aren't factors, as in you want/need a thinner bookshelf. It's the most unique looking but any of them could work. Like the above person mentioned, I do wonder how smaller books would look and fit.

I'd avoid side-standing unless you want to add a bookend to each, books topple easily if you have paperbacks. The spine gives you the option of something else on the top, like the depicted vase of flowers or whatever. (I doubt I'm telling you anything not already apparent!)

Most flat-pack stuff goes quite smoothly these days, it's been quite some while since I was missing a part or anything. Maybe give it a go and hire someone only if you find it's poorly made, like if the holes aren't lining up. Maybe you could consider a second once you've figured the assembly of the first.

I'm into the tree bookshelf myself. Nice design, and I think it holds more books (and more securely).

I guess the critical question is how many books you have? Because these all seem more decorative than sturdy or affording much space for a lot of books.

Also, depending on the condition of the boxes in terms of dust and damp, they might be better off boxed, because books that are out collect a lot of dust.

Stylish - but all too small?!?! The cats would like to sit on them!
