I hadn't either - but listening to the book? I think there's a reason for that? They buried it. It is the worst film ever made - it's became a kind of urban legend among people in the industry and in certain sections of the government.
But I did know that Susan Hayward, Agnes Moorehead, and John Wayne all died of cancer due to exposure to the red dust making "some film in the desert". My mother couldn't remember the name of it - and never really saw it - but knew that's how they got cancer.
