New icon, music and other ramblings
Nov. 26th, 2003 12:37 amFeeling calmer now, was so angry earlier. Angry and irritated, I wanted to kick things. Ah to just let go of all this rage somehow...other than ranting ad nauseaum about dumb stuff online.
I know where the rage comes from of course - it's a combination of boredom, frustration, a sense of spinning my wheels, envy, and fear all rolled up in one. I've been working my ass off for over two years now hunting a job and still, nothing. Beginning to wonder if I'll ever find a good job - I'm not that picky actually - I just want a place that I can do what I'm somewhat good at and be compensated. Is that too much to ask? Apparently.
Anywho...have found a lovely CD that my kid brother gave me some time back, Lobi Traore - Duga, very calming. Don't understand any of the lyrics, but it doesn't matter - the chants and music has this odd effect, sort of like the ocean's waves gently lapping over you on a warm summer day. After a while the music calms all those pesky negative feelings, making me feel as if I'm floating gently in a lagoon, just floating along, no worries...Must listen to this music more often.
Also discovered lovely new source for ATS/BTVS character icons,
shagalot, s/he has some lovely Drusilla, Spike, Angelus icons, some of which are newly made from Destiny. ( more on icons and character shipping )
If you want to laugh? The British version of Coupling (the original) which airs on BBC America on Sunday's at two different times - is highly recommended. It's a difficult show to explain, b/c the humor really is in the pacing, delivery, and acting *not* in the dialogue itself (as the American version proved). You have to see it to understand.
Thanksgiving's around the corner. Going to be a quiet affair this year. Just me, myself and I in my NYC apt. Hopefully with some videos. Although plan to spend a good portion of the next three days working and finishing my marketing project for that class I'm taking. Food? Cornish Game Hen with marmalade dressing, wild rice with mushrooms, green beans with silvered almonds, cranberry/orange muffins, apple cider and whatever small tart or pie I can find for not much money. (All of this was pretty cheap actually, since I already have most of it). Two hens for $5.58 - cheaper than a turkey and will last me over a week. All made by moi in my tiny closet sized kitchen. For videos? I'm hoping my free pass for two movie rentals still holds - I won it back in August, been saving it. Ahhh...actually sort of looking forward to it. Hope I don't run into problems finding stuff tomorrow.
Have a happy holiday everyone.
