Two rather enjoyable and somewhat hilarious music vids that I watched this morning, which I'm positive offended somebody.

1.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KK-P0Mt1BfI - this one is a vid of someone singing a song about the abusive romance depicted in the Twilight novels, and begging Buffy to slay Edward Cullen. Abusive boyfriends with teens is a MAJOR problem right now. Actually its always been a problem.

2. The other is the Beyonce/Lady Gaga Telephone Video that's all the rage. I finally checked it out - on Lady Gaga's site - so got the original unedited version not the clean one on youtube, and it's dripping in irony and satire. Gaga is the new Queen of satire. She's satirizing our society and media in at times blatant, and instructive ways. Her satirization of patriotism as an addiction, the use of broken diet cook cans as curlers, cigarettes as blinding glasses while a man [ETA: woman, who represents herself in a butch way] is turned on by them, as her hands are chained behind her. The comment that she doesn't have a "dick" - as being derogatory. And how the fatty foods and salt in a diner kill everyone in it. There's a lot in it. My only criticism is it may be too busy, but that may be the point - things are too busy. Too many gadgets. Too much noise. Too many things being sold to the point we can't ignore them. Even the flag. With sex and violence attached. The song itself is about the telephone - the gist: "that I can't escape the stupid telephone. I feel like I'm grand central with all these calls, I have no time to dance, when all I'm doing is answering the telephone!" Perfect. For myself? My cell phone is off unless I absolutely need to make a call or am expecting one or meeting someone. Otherwise? Off. And I do not take my lap-top with me anywhere - it stays in my apartment. As does the kindle at the moment. I like gadget free space. Silence. It gives me time to de-stress, to download, to not think, to not take in more information. You can only take in so much - without going crazy after all. I have no idea how people stand taking these gadgets with them everywhere, constantly wired, constantly checking them with no break. How do you stay sane? Maybe you don't? Maybe that's the problem?
