Jun. 5th, 2010 12:14 amDifficult day. Discovered that my name, position title and salary are available for public viewing along with every other person who works for a public or government entity. Sigh. I miss the days when we did not have the internet - and this information wasn't so readily available.
The internet feels at times like a violation of one's privacy. What I like most about lj - is I can post under a psuedonyme and remain largely anonymous. But coworkers were quite upset. One manager threw a hissy fit and printed off the entire list of salaries - because it bugged him big time that a guy selling tickets was making over $100,000 a year. (Most of it in overtime.) And is suffice it to say more than the Director and well the rest of us are making. The joke is - if you are working hard you don't make that much. It's all relative. I'm personally just grateful to have a job. Having been without a job a good portion of my life - it's very nice to have one, particularly one that is not boring and challenges me. I really don't think I'd enjoy selling tickets for a living - no matter how much they paid me.
Here's a really good meta on The Good Wife - which more or less explains why I believe this is the best new show this year. It is amongst the few that deals hands on with what it is like to be a woman in a man's world - and how politics and power play a role in our every day life. It explores politics in a way that The West Wing was never quite brave enough to delve into.
And yes, everyone should watch it. It's being re-runned on CBS at the same time slot - 10 pm Tuesdays, last I checked. Not hard to get into.
Tired. Really tired. So off to bed.
