Copy and Paste if you have enjoyed the blessing of meeting people online that you never would have met any other way. This is my end
of the year shout out to the many "friends" I have never been in the same room with but who have inspired, amused, comforted, encouraged,
and touched me in so many ways. I love you people! Here's to another year together!!

Last night momster saw a post I did on lj - and she said, that's incredibly long, email and facebook really wouldn't work for you would it? No, really not. Oddly, I resisted joining lj for a long time, deadsoul tried to talk me into it, then anjeya kept at me, even did it in person, sending me invites. Telling me that lj would be more freeing than the fanboards. I could write whatever I wished, have more control over my writing, who saw it, how it was edited, and viewed. Finally in 2003, I gave in, and in 2005 left the fan discussion boards, listserves, and chat-rooms far behind. Although many of the denizens of those boards were here already, and they greeted me with open arms. Since that time - I've written over 2900 entries. But it's not my entries I remember, so much as the comments and correspondence and entries of others online many of which have more often than not inspired most of my own. Without the correspondence, with the interaction...this would be just another journal, tucked into a box, and forgotten like the 100 or so paper ones that I've thrown away. Here I can be my wild geeky self...and it is one of the few places I can be that person, where I can discuss ad naseum "comic books", "Doctor Who", "Lost", "BSG", Whedon, the latest fantasy or sci-fi novel...and not be considered odd. I can be creative, I can play. I can even whine or rant or cry...and be hugged cybernetically. By people all over the world. Interact with folks as far away as Australia, and who speak another language. I can learn about cultures, languages, religions and views vastly different than my own. That's an invaluable gift, worth more than gold. And amongst the few things the information revolution has brought about that I treasure.

Here's to another, hopefully better, year of the same.
