Posting during lunch break - albeit quickly, again.

Wondering how much personal stuff is wise to post on this blog/journal and how much is not. Or rather how much I am comfortable posting. And this all sounded clearer in my head than it does on the page. What do you think? Assuming of course you can decipher what I said above. Head is foggy with congestion, so I blame that. Nice to have something to blame.

Didn't see the Game of Thrones finale last night - will watch tonight or tomorrow night - most likely. One of the nice things about The Wire - is that unlike Game or even True Blood or Vamp Diaries or Buffy or any of those shows, I don't have to worry about defending the characters I like or explaining the one's I don't. It's a bit of a relief. My tolerance for "character wars" was pushed past its limits of endurance with the whole Buffy fandom. After about the upteenth argument explaining why I preferred Spike to all of Buffy's other love interests, potential and otherwise, I decided such arguments are pointless. It's subjective. (For me? short answer? From my perspective and in my opinion, Spike was by far the best written and portrayed character in that series - and had the best arc, in part due to the actor's eagerness and versatility. The whole package. It really all comes down to how well and thoroughly a character is written and portrayed. Of course it did not hurt that he was hot. (yes, I can be shallow too). It's a fictional character - I don't care how morally righteous and/or nice they are. I'm not going to date them or be buddies. I care about how well-written they are. If I cared about such things - I wouldn't watch House or well about every other noirish tv show I've watched in my lifetime.) Game? From the smattering of non-spoilery bits? I foresee lots of arguments about Jamie Lannister on the horizon...so do not have the patience for it.

At some point, I should probably do a review of the entire series, but no time tonight. Just finished watching Episode 10 Fire and Blood - the season #1 finale of Game of Thrones. Odd. For some reason I thought there were 11 episodes. 10 is an awfully short season even for HBO. Normally, US DVD packages require at least 13 - for pricing. Not that I'm complaining, it made the story tighter, less filler and throw-away scenes. Shorter seasons mean better and higher production value and tighter writing.

I have to admit, I've forgotten most of the books, had to ask co-worker how Game of Thrones the novel ended. Because I could not remember. And I remember even less of the second book Clash of Kings - except that it was long, I didn't enjoy it all that much, and I wanted to strangle Robb, Catelynn, Davos, Cersei, Sansa and Joffrey in no particular order by the end of it. Why, I couldn't tell you. Because I honestly don't remember. Read the bloody thing six years ago. I remember the third book better actually - but I read that one in November, and it's already fading fast. Bloody memory can only hold so much miscellaneous information. Do remember who gets killed and how. But I can't tell you that. Because spoilers! Will go so far as to state - that none of my favorite characters get killed. Well, at least not yet.

No real book spoilers, because I don't really remember the book enough to spoil anyone on it...so just tv spoilers )
